Life

Ok, so apparently I am terrible at this thing!   I have a blog post that I started a week ago and I still haven't finished.  But that one is going to take a while to finish, I figured I should at least update this thing with a little something.  :)

Life has been pretty normal for me.  Last week I was able to celebrate Thanksgiving with other Gringos and Ticos at the CFCI office.  It was fun to be able to do a somewhat American thing.  It's neat to see how an American holiday is celebrated in another country.  But at the same time, being able to celebrate a holiday that is a native holiday of mine.  One of the things that we did was write down things that we are thankful for.  It was hearing what everyone wrote about what they were thankful for.  I also got to meet some more Ticos who work for CFCI, which is always a nice thing.  Some of the things I am thankful for this years are,

  • For technology to be able to stay in contact and see my family.  Specially on holidays!
  • For a God who loves me unconditionally!  Who is always there for me!
  • For the prayers and support of family, friends, and my church
  • For the ability to be serving God in Costa Rica - I am right were God wants me to be
  • For a new family in Costa Rica
  • And so many more things...so hard to put them all into words

Another change in my life has been that Bruna (the other girl staying in our house) left last Wednesday.  It's weird how much someone can become a friend in such a short time.  The house has been strangely quiet without the other foreigners in the house.  Well Caleb keeps it noisy but it's just not the same.   I also miss the translation she would give!  I guess now I really need to buckle down and start trying to figure out Spanish.  I have come to the conclusion that my brain is getting really old and it's hard to learn another language when it gets this old.  :)  And since Bruna left, that means I get to teach the afternoon English classes.  So far it hasn't been to bad...but then again I only had one class since she left and I only had 1 student.  :)  But it's going to be interesting cuz there are 2 different English levels and I still have to figure out how I'm going to do that.  I hope I figured it out since I have a class tomorrow afternoon.  But it will be interesting to see who shows up.

Those have been the most major things that have been happening in my life lately.  I have been working in the clinic Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.  It has been fun working there.  I mainly take blood pressure, heights, weights, give IM shots, filling prescriptions, and helping sort medication.  The clinic gets free samples which have to be sorted and made sure that they aren't expired.  Although the expiration date is good 6 months out down here.  It has been fun getting to know some of my coworkers at the clinic.  Well as much as you can get to know someone when they don't speak English and you don't speak that much Spanish.  I mainly work with Sandra.  She is a hoot and a holler to work with, so much fun!  It makes my life interesting.  And it makes me work on my Spanish cuz Susie (the Gringa who started all the Carpio missions) isn't always there and she is my translator at the clinic.

I think this post is kinda random, but lets be honest...it's getting late and I got up way to early this morning.  So in other words, I'm kinda rambling and getting really random.  :)  So with that, I'm going to sign off and hopefully I can finish my post about my weekend in Talamanca with a group from Renueovs.

Blessings
