I finally arrived!

Man it's crazy to write that sentence...I finally arrived!  Not only that but I finally arrived to Mercy Ships!  A dream I have had for over 20 years.  I still don't think it has set in that I am here!  But soon I'm sure.

My travel here definitely wasn't without it's hiccups.  My flight out of Cleveland left 30 minutes (I believe) late.  But that was ok since I had a 3 hour layover in Detroit.  Luckily I didn't have any hiccups in Detroit.  But the flight over to Paris was long.  I left the States at 6 pm and I arrived at 7 am their time.  Which meant it was 2 am home time.  Of course that meant I wasn't ready to go to sleep until they turned the cabin lights back on and fed us breakfast.  :)  So far my travel wasn't that bad.  Then things decided to get a little interesting.

Our plane was late taking off for a couple of reasons.  One - luggage was added to our plane that needed to be removed.  So once that got removed...you'd think we would be ready to go.  But nope.  Second - we had a passenger who refused to sit down and buckle her seat.  She sat for enough time that we were able to pull away from the gate, but then she popped back up and refused to sit back down.  Long story short....multiple flight attendants and the pilot talked with her and nothing happened.  So back to another gate we go to drop her off.  After that we were finally able to take off.   We then had a stop over in Nouakchott, Mauritania to drop a few people off.  That stop over was only supposed to take an hr but yeah...that didn't happen.  First off one passenger didn't get off who was supposed to get off.  So the count on the plane was wrong.  After about 30 minutes or so they finally figured out who it was.  Ended up being my seatmate.  So once he got off, the count was off again cuz someone got off who wasn't supposed to get off so they had to find him.  That made the passengers VERY angry.  So back were all the flight attendants and pilot trying to calm the people down.  It took a bit and the flight attendants standing between people so a fight wouldn't break out, they finally got them calmed down enough. They finally found the guy that got off who wasn't supposed to and off we were again.  Amazingly we only arrived 2 hrs late to Guinea.  I made it through customs without any difficulty and met up with some others who were joining Mercy Ships and the people meeting us from the Ship.  After we left the airport we got stuck in traffic for about 20 minutes which apparently isn't normal.  But we finally made it to the ship after a very long day of traveling.

Blessings,
Suzanne
