Prayer Please
So today was a VERY hard day. Or should I say that this whole month has been a hard month and it all came crashing down today.
So the past 4 and half weeks we have been doing Women's Health, which involves very sad patient stories. Which is emotionally draining learning about some of these ladies. Then on top of that the past week and half, we have not been having good outcomes from the surgeries. One of our patients had an ileus, another had to have an ostomy, multiple have spiked fevers and have been on the verge of being septic, and then we have had 5 to 7 surgeries fail. So that has all been going on with Women's Health. It has been hard to work on B ward with these ladies. (I will write a blog post later about what we do in Women's health)
And then today happened. Today that about crushed or did crush the nurses, doctors, and day crew. 2 months ago we were able to care of a little 4 month old plastics patients. She came in with clubbed hands and feet and our plastics doctor was able to correct her hands. I was able to care of her for a couple of weeks before she moved to another ward and even when I got floated to that ward, I took care of her. Unfortunately she did have some respiratory issues after surgery, but she then went back to her baseline. She was also one of the patients that had an infection also, so that lengthened her stay with us. In other words, we got to know her. Her mama was one of the best around. It was a happy day when she got discharged to the Hope Center because they live hours away. Today, she was brought back in because she stopped breathing and she passed away.
This precious little girl is gone. She was always smiling and cooing. Her mama loved her so much. The day crew loved her. We all loved her. It's devastating. But it's not just here either. Her mama and her have been at the Hope Center for a couple of weeks, other patients have gotten to know them and love them. It is a very sad night here on the African Mercy and at the Hope Center.
Please pray for us. Pray for her mama, her family. Pray for peace, comfort, for strength. Pray that the mama will know it is not her fault. Pray as the mama has to travel hours back to her village, help with village come and surround this mama. That they will be able to give her comfort. Pray for us, that we will able able to work through this. All that I can say, is that I/we covet your prayers right now.

Love you Zannie. Thank you for loving and being Jesus to these precious people. I'm sorry for your pain and those with you. Hugs and prayers for all.
